Meth Drinker

bandcamp

Meth Drinker are a sludge doom metal band from Wellington. I caught a little bit of their set at Punkfest last year but was too drunk to really realise what was happening but I caught them again at an Auckland house party the other week and holy fuck they were awesome. Heavy and slow as fuck, and when the tempo did pick up I almost shat my pants. I'm pretty sure their record is all sold out now but you can still listen to some tracks on their bandcamp or you could purchase a CD for $10 from Alwaysneverfunrecords

Numbskull

Two new Numbskull tracks from the upcoming split 12" LP with Electric Mayhem have been uploaded to their Bandcamp. Check it.

Suren Unka

Download

After months of annoyingly loud electronic music been blasting through my house, the same songs over and over again at all hours of the day, my younger brother has finally finished his first EP. Even though I've heard this countless times throughout the editing process it is still just as good as it ever was. Suren's EP is chilled mellow and almost atmospheric electronic music that uses self recorded samples and and a combination of vocals from some of his very talented friends. Previously Suren has been in an electronic band called Ponny Fight and has also played drums in our old band No Greater Power and currently drums in Hivemind and Beach Pigs.

Strangers from Wellington are one of my favourite bands to come out of New Zealand. Previously named Guest Stabs Host they changed their name and evolved their sound into what was known as Strangers. After breaking up in 2010 they have recently put up their demo, full length and two EP's for free download. If you never go around to listening to them before I think now is the time to see what you've been missing out on.

Kitsunegari are a young band from Auckland. They play noisy punky grunge inspired rock. It's really pretty good, and this isn't a "they're good for young people" but it's honestly pretty rad.

They have a new 6 track EP to be released May 30th 2011 through MUZAI Records.

What's up with people, especially chicks that think they're so superior and highly educated just because they know a little bit of french. FUCK OFF. you're not. you just seem like a fucking asshole. no one thinks you're cool or arty. "fuck off you béret wearing cunt" is what I'll say....

Almost as bad as white dudes who "embrace" Japanese culture by watching anime, reading manga getting a Japanese style tattoo and eating sushi... fuck off you culture vultures.

Chip Away Zine

Chip Away zine is a compilation of rants and crys by various people. A lot of it is based around hardcore. There is also heaps of other shit to read. If you didn't manage to get a hard copy of it you can download it here. It's worth a read. I think the next issue is being compiled at the moment.

Schifosi was a female fronted, dark sounding crust punk band from Melbourne, Australia. They were formed in 2001 and they ended in 2008. They toured the U.S in 2005 and New Zealand in 2006 (Where I first heard about them/saw them).

Kia Kaha Kids

Kia Kaha Kids was a band I was in from 2009-2010. We played GG Allin and Misfits covers plus an Eye Of The Tiger cover and Party Hard by Andrew W.K. We first started to play a one off set at our friends house party for Halloween. We decided that the band was too fun and we didn't wanna leave it at just one show. So we went on and played heaps of really fun, crazy and sometimes really awkward shows. We also wrote a few originals which were recorded just before our drummer (Rory) left the country.
