(download link is from the bands myspace)

Mean Streak are a newish Hardcore band from Hamilton. Rising from the ashes of This Is This and containing members from many well known past/current hardcore bands in NZ, they haven't had that much trouble finding their feet and gaining a following in the local hardcore scene. Similar musically to This Is This, Mean Streak seem to be more mature lyrically. Mean Streak's influences include Blood For Blood and Death Threat.

Brutes?¿

Were Brutes a hardcore band from West Auckland? Did I manage to get two of their recorded songs before they were even heard by the band, because I'm more sneaky than Morgan, their apparent vocalist?

Am I putting them up for free download ¿

Did they even exist?

I can't find any information on them...

hurr hurr.

Shortlived - Demo '07

I found this release a while back from the Mad Blasts Of Chaos blog, chur :).

Shortlived are form Wellington and play a fast, thrashy style of hardcore. The few times I have seen them live have been intense, loud and fast... The crowd really gets into it. This is a nice 4 track demo that I really cannot get enough of.

Streetkunt - Shit Kunts, Shit Times

I'd been semi searching for this CD for a while then it randomly popped up on Punkas.com and I decided I'd chuck it up on here. HA. It's an awesome 7 track EP, with a dark D-Beat feel to it...so check it out.

Wasteland Demo

This is Wasteland's (from Hamilton) unreleased demo. It's really good, fast and aggressive. They're also real nice dudes.

I got the tracks from the Mad Blasts Of Chaos blog (check it out, it's really good), but thought I'd make it easier for lazy people by making it into a Zip file and chucking it up on Mediafire.

Ben Clancy(drummer) recently told me they had just finished recording a new CD and will be released next year or something? I can't quite remember. But I do look forward to hearing it. Look out for it. Also look out for Wasteland at a local show/house party. They bring the vibes.

Thrashing In The Streets

Thrashing In The Streets are a thrashy skate hardcore band from Lansing, Michigan, United States(according to their myspace page). I've been listening to them again and remembered how good they are. Then I remembered they had kindly put their discography up for download on their myspace. Lucky for you you don't have to travel all the way over there to get it because you can just download it right now from here. It's well worth downloading.

Leader To Ruin....

FUCK.

These guys have come a long way from back in the "Guevara" days at Selwyn College.
Leader To Ruin are easily one of my favorite bands to see live, play with, or even to come out of NZ. Their sound has a real Lamb of God mixed with Meshuggah feel to it, with some other shit mixed in there. They are probably the most drunk/"what the fuck are they on" band I have ever seen....EVER

Check them out live if you ever get the chance, it is worth it. (they don't play that many shows anymore so catch them when you can!)

I also put a whole lot of their songs up for download, and a link to their myspace page.)

(ps I am 4 woodys and a few beers down when writing this post)

No Greater Power

(Click image to view myspace page)

Download

No Greater Power is my band. We formed in '05, playing Black Sabbath, Misfits, Ramones etc covers. Our first few songs we wrote turned out to be Hardcore/Metal and that's what stuck.

I've uploaded a few of our first recordings, recorded in late '05 or ealry '06 through various ways. They're really shit quality and so on but I just thought it'd be fun to share some songs we don't play any more, some that we have never played live and some we still play.

NGP is currently recording an EP. It should be out in a month or so.
