Wasteland Demo

This is Wasteland's (from Hamilton) unreleased demo. It's really good, fast and aggressive. They're also real nice dudes.

I got the tracks from the Mad Blasts Of Chaos blog (check it out, it's really good), but thought I'd make it easier for lazy people by making it into a Zip file and chucking it up on Mediafire.

Ben Clancy(drummer) recently told me they had just finished recording a new CD and will be released next year or something? I can't quite remember. But I do look forward to hearing it. Look out for it. Also look out for Wasteland at a local show/house party. They bring the vibes.

Exhumation Recordings

It's been ages since I've posted. But I'm still here!

My good man, Josh Hughes from Bloodletting, has started a new label to help out NZ bands. It's called Exhumation Recordings. He already has a few bands on the label including my own bands, No Greater Power and Buzzkill. Other bands also on the label include - Bloodletting, Leader To Ruin, The Dauntless and Vixen Execution. Check it out. Add it. Support it. Exhumation Recordings is totally D.I.Y and is in place to basically support bands and gain exposure.

The first proper Exhumation Recordings show is a free show at PR Bar on the 6th of February. The show is in association with Bfm's Hard Fast And Heavy show. Come along and have a mean as time!

BLOODLETTING

Bloodletting....I remember seeing them at a random Dimebag Darrel Tribute show in '05 i think... playing a few Pantera covers and some originals... they reminded me of 8 foot sativa but not as melodic... I really can't remember I was dumb back then.. but I know that I was amazed at how good they were for dudes that were around my age at the time(15/16)

NOW they are sort of melodic death metal, with a heavy black dahlia murder influence. They've released I think two EP's, titled "One in the Breech" and "Force Fed Terror", both EP's have one track with a guest vocalist... funnily enough both times the guest vocalist is one of the 8 Foot Sativa vocalists (Their first EP, One in the Breech, it was Matt Sheppard, vocalist for 8 foot's "Breed The Pain" album and now is currently in Sinate.. and on the second EP, Force Fed Terror, it was Ben Read, ex Kill Me Quickly/Ulcerate, current 8 Foot vocalist)

Bloodletting formed in late 2005 and have gone through many line up changes since... so many in fact, that there is only one original member left in the band, Bassist, Josh. But because of their line up changes their sound has developed for the better... and with their newest member, Scott (He also drums in Leader To Ruin) they are sounding the best I've heard them.

So far they have supported a few international acts including: BEHEMOTH and THE BERZERKER.

Because Bloodletting are such good cunts, they have put their second ep, titled Force Fed Terror up for free download as well as their newest demo track containing guest vocals from the great Roger Moore (Grind Thugs)

You can buy Force Fed Terror for $10 from the band (their myspace page, I advise you to do this... mainly because the art works pretty cool plus having a hard copy of the shit you've downloaded and supporting the bands is pretty cool.

Media Studies

In 6th and 7th form media studies we had to make a short film. In 6th form it was a horror film and in 7th form it was a documentary.

I thought i'd share them on my blog as the horror film is pretty cool for a bunch of 16 year olds and it has a nice soundtrack... and the documentary is about all ages shows and mainly looks at hardcore and metal shows (as only HC and metal all age shows were happening when we were filming).

6th FORM HORROR FILM (noone in the group had seen saw or hostel at the time of filming):

7th FORM DOCUMENTARY:

XKRAMERX VIDZ

I have finally uploaded some videos from our trip to Mangawhai for new years. The videos are of my good mate xkramerx, who is straight edge, having a bit of fun with water and orange juice.... enjoy.

then there's the video from a few weeks ago of Kramer helping out our stoner mates.

Put To Rest

To view Put To Rest's myspace page click here

Put to Rest were a young 5 piece metalcore band from west Auckland that formed in 2006(i think?) and ended in 2007. In their reasonably short existence they played with some sweet bands, released a demo/EP thingy and made a video clip (view on their myspace page)

I thought I'd add them because I'm sure a whole heap of people missed out on getting their EP, and they aren't around anymore.

So here's their EP for download.

SATURDAY 28th JUNE - Ellen Melville Hall (AA) - $10 - 5PM START!
Tourettes

Army of Darkness
Brick vs Face
Strangers
Cry Wolf

Some info from the organiser -

The shows were meant to be a benefit for Auckland Animal Action but recently the group has shut down. The funds will still be going to animal rights though, for direct action, outreach and animal rescue.

The gigs are also to draw attention to the ANZCCART (Australia NZ Council for the Care of Animals in Research and Teaching) conference which is happening the Sunday, Monday, Tuesday afterwards.

The conference is held every two years in New Zealand and is a conference for the people who torture animals in the name of "science" (also known as vivisectors) to get together. So we want to draw attention to animal testing in NZ and to try to get people to come along to the protest's that have been planned as well.

No Greater Power have a new recording, which is sort of teaser track from their upcoming EP. You can find it on their myspcae page. The track is called "You Will Fall". It's an old song but still one of my favourite to play live.

The track is still to add some gang vocals and have a bit of tweaking... I think.

From what I've heard of their newest album "Heavier Than Heaven Lonelier Than God" I didnt like as much as their other releases, mainly because it seems like they're trying to go down a different musical path than they were before. I'll give it another go and bare in mind that bands do tend to evolve and shit. haha.

Force Fed Trauma

(click here for FFT's myspace page.

From FFT's Mypsace - 'Force Fed Trauma formed in mid 2007, They aimed to bring out a form of death metal influenced hardcore/metal which was something lacking in the Auckland hardcore scene. Bands influence them from the likes of carnifex, suicide silence and annotations of an autopsy mixing death metal into metalcore to form the own style of music being referred to as 'deathcore'. Force Fed Traumas Ep will drop mid 2008 and will make a mark through the New Zealand scene. Already signed to former guitarists label 'death eclipse productions' Force fed trauma have already stated pre production. Force Fed Trauma aim to be one of New Zealands most brutal acts. Already making a name for themselves with an array of shows Force Fed Trauma look to be playing all around New Zealand with their own aggressive form of metal, their shows are raw and aggresive. Look out for them.'

This band has blown up hard! only starting in mid 07 and playing their first show towards the end of '07, they already have an EP on the way which has been recorded and produced all hardout and shit(haha I can't think of anything better to say here), and a professional logo, designed by Steve of Annotations Of An Autopsy myspace.com/sewermouthsteve.

They've improved heaps since their first show, especially JoshVC(Vocals) who's voice has evolved so much and continues to every time I see them play. Even having a few line up changes and currently not having a bassist hasn't slowed them down at all. They've had shows galore since they started and probably will continue to throughout their existence. They have caught the attention of many in the Metal and Hardcore scenes because of their unique (to NZ) sound, making it easy for them to get on the bill for any "heavy" show.

Look out for these guys, they're going to be huge.

Grind Thugs

Download Tracks

Grind Thugs is a roothless unstructured, improvised, goat raping grindcore band from Auckland.(I'm really not sure if we are still playing shows or not). I was/am the drummer (I had never played drums till Grind Thugs and will not unless it's for Grind Thugs).

We would hijack shows and parties with bands playing and basically thrash the shit out of the gear provided. often we were too drunk to care what was going on. We recorded a few improvised tracks in my basement and one at the infamous show/party flat, Necropolis.

LEADER TO RUIN

For Leader To Ruin's Myspace page click here

Leader To Ruin....

FUCK.

These guys have come a long way from back in the "Guevara" days at Selwyn College.
Leader To Ruin are easily one of my favorite bands to see live, play with, or even to come out of NZ. Their sound has a real Lamb of God mixed with Meshuggah feel to it, with some other shit mixed in there. They are probably the most drunk/"what the fuck are they on" band I have ever seen....EVER

Check them out live if you ever get the chance, it is worth it. (they don't play that many shows anymore so catch them when you can!)

I also put a whole lot of their songs up for download, and a link to their myspace page.)

Perverse Suffering

(Click image to view Myspace page)

(taken from their myspace page)
"Perverse Suffering is a five peice Auckland progressive deathcore band. With influences from the legendary death metal kings 'Cannibal Corpse' To New Zealand's own hardcore outfit 'Kill Me Quickly'. Perverse aims to write brutal music with strong meaning. The lyrical theme being based on horrific/sickening tragedies that take place within and out of New Zealand."

Perverse Suffering are a new(ish) Metalcore/Grindcore band from Auckland. Most of the members are around 16 years old. I've seen them play a number of times and each time has been better than the last.

First impressions of the band is that the vocalist (David Crowe) looks like a 12 year old and probably sounds like one too... then he starts to scream.

These guys are pretty decent for a new band, both lyrically and musically.

Perverse Suffering will be releasing a 5 track EP "Within the month" according to bassist, xKramerx.

No Greater Power is my band. We formed in '05, playing Black Sabbath, Misfits, Ramones etc covers. Our first few songs we wrote turned out to be Hardcore/Metal and that's what stuck.

I've uploaded a few of our first recordings, recorded in late '05 or ealry '06 through various ways. They're really shit quality and so on but I just thought it'd be fun to share some songs we don't play any more, some that we have never played live and some we still play.

NGP is currently recording an EP. It should be out in a month or so.

FUCKING HAI!

I decided to make this page mainly to promote young metal/hardcore/punk bands in New Zealand. I want to put up demos/EPs for download and advertise/review shows etc, well as some other shit. I am also willing to do artwork/designs for t shirt designs, album art and show posters (but only when i have time).

For any bands wanting to be put up on here, or if you think any I should put up a band here, give me an email at ahnand.unka@hotmail.com or a message on my myspace page
